Need trees turned to timber? Call Dixie Logging. We’re local, family-owned, and hands-on.

Dixie Logging LLC, a family-owned and operated business, stands at the forefront of the timber and sawmill industry in Jackson, TN. At its helm are Larry ‘Bubba’ Hooper and his son Robert, who bring a deep-rooted passion and expertise to every aspect of the business. They specialize in purchasing timber, managing its sustainable harvest, and delivering high-quality logs to their sister company, Jackson Tie & Lumber LLC. Here, under the expert management of Brian Rimer, Bubba’s brother-in-law, the logs are transformed into a variety of wood products, including lumber, crossties, and pallet materials known as cants.

Sustainability and wildlife preservation

Sustainability and wildlife preservation are cornerstones of their operations, reflecting the Hoopers’ avid interest in hunting and their commitment to ecological stewardship. As Master Loggers, they continuously advance their knowledge, staying abreast of the latest Best Management Practices (BMPs) in the timber industry.

Safety and Peace of Mind

For many, selling timber is a rare event, making it crucial to partner with the right company. Dixie Logging LLC and the Hoopers, having pioneered numerous sawmills across West TN, understand this deeply. Their philosophy isn’t about being the first or the best; it’s about authenticity and commitment to the community. They encourage landowners to visit their sites, offering a hands-on glimpse into their passion-driven operations. Safety is paramount, and during these visits, they discuss timber prices, contracts, and purchasing options, including up-front payments or profit-sharing models.

With over 120 years of collective experience in the timber industry, the Hoopers are equipped to address all your queries and goals regarding timber harvesting. They invite you to join them in the woods, whether on a skidder, at the loader, or in the sawmill cabin. Sit with them on a stump or a tailgate, and they’ll guide you through every step of the process, ensuring your peace of mind and satisfaction.
